ICTP full scholarship are available only for candidates from Developing Countries.

These scholarships covers the MHPC tuition fees as well as the cost-of-living expenses and plane tickets from and to the origin country. The scholarships are provided by ICTP (not by MHPC), and winners are automatically admitted to MHPC.

External scholarships
Other research institutes as well as private companies and industries may offer scholarships to cover the fee of the master and/or partial/full living expenses. All of these scholarships will be advertised on the website, and will have their own deadlines and conditions. These are independent with respect to the MHPC application and deadline, and application/admission to these scholarships will not imply application/admission to MHPC, which must be actuated separately.

Support for SISSA PhD students and former SISSA PhD students
SISSA waves the fee of MHPC to its PhD students who are enrolled on one of its PhD courses on the date of the official start of MHPC classes, and to former students who have obtained their doctorate no more than 12 months before the start date of the lessons and that are currently unemployed, for a maximum of six exemptions.

  • The ideal student for the MHPC has a strong interest in information technology problems driven by scientific research or industrial needs. 
  • English is the official language of the Master.
  • MHPC is accessible by Italian students graduated with “laurea magistrale (D.M. 270/2004)” and “laurea Vecchio Ordinamento (L. 341/1990)”. International applicants with a Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degree are welcome to apply.
  • Work experience will be evaluated during the admissions interview.
  • No prior HPC knowledge is assumed, but candidates should have some experience in programming and a competence in one of the following languages: C, C++, Fortran.
  • A sound knowledge of Linux operating system is also needed.
  • A knowledge of Python language is assumed at the level of the first 39 exercises of the learn python the hard way


Should you wish to follow the master course without a sponsor, the fee for attending the full course is € 7.000. Details about payment methods and schedules will be communicated to the selected students.

Please note that the tuition fee is not due until the beginning of the academic year. The program of the 7^ edition will start on September, 7th 2020 and end on June 2021.
